A few years ago, I attempted to sell
what's known in the "biz" as a "treatment"
for a "prime time" TV "soap." It was pretty
soundly "rejected." Herewith, the plot "synopsis"
for the pilot "episode" of "Glenwood."
Glenwood: The Pilot
- a treatment -
Rachel discovers Brad in the tool shed with Jennifer.
Fortunately for all concerned, Brad and Jennifer are married,
so Rachel quickly retreats, hoping she hasn't disturbed
them.
Dr. Randall enters Mary Ellen's room at Glenwood
General and solemnly closes the door behind him. The test
results were all negative, he tells her. She is mildly disturbed.
"Dr. Randall looks awfully solemn today," she
thinks to herself. "But then, he always does."
A series of brutal kidnappings and murders fails
to materialize in Glenwood, much to the disinterest of the
town's citizenry.
Gaylord Wentworth, Glenwood's leading industrial
tycoon, clicks on the intercom receiver on his desk. "Your
ex-wife is here to see you," his secretary says. Gaylord
sinks back into his plush chair as Muriel, the mother of
his two children, bursts through the office door bearing
a small package. "Gaylord, you're looking well. Here's
your Christmas present, darling." He thanks her with
a warm hug. In more philosophical moments, they agree their
marriage could never have lasted.
The mysterious Mr. Garbanza checks into the Glenwood
Arms Hotel. He stays three days, then leaves Glenwood forever.
Monica's singing career is still going nowhere. She's
happy as a housewife, though.
No one has seen little Scottie for eight days. He
is away at camp.
